About Me

hmmmmmmmmm as Eddie Vedder once sang "What to say, what to say". My name is Christian, and I work in the modern day equivalent of a Nazi Death Squad, which is to say I prepare extremely greasy, calorific food, for people with full knowledge that it may in fact lead them to health hazards(possibly fatal ones) down the road. Okay so as you can see from the above I sometimes over-dramatize the extremely mundane(disclaimer: even though I joke about it often I actually love my job -- mostly because my coworkers are all pretty f'in sweet). In fact at one point in my life when I was younger(see pictures) I planned on becoming the next Kurt Cobain, but then reality overcame me and now I see that the future holds something less glamorous than rock stardom and will probably require far fewer insulin needles than heroin addiction. Still I love the guitar, and I write songs, love to read, love concerts, love to meet new people. I work out a lot, I am in a band called "Normal Citizen", and rest assured we will dominate the airwaves in the coming decade -- we will be the Nirvana of 2011. We just need that five year cushion to prepare, much like Stalin with his various five year plans. I am currently on good terms with all the friends that have ever really mattered to me throughout my life(think pre-k to the present thats a long fucking time) and thats a pretty good feeling to have, because for a lot of years I didn't think something like that would be possible.

I'd like to meet:

Eddie Vedder or Ani Difranco would both be cool to meet. I would also like to meet Alan Moore or Chuck Pahlahniuk who are both great writers and pretty interesting in interviews. since I'm most likely not going to meet those people, then maybe you, If you are someone that I would consider to be a good person(and man that is a loaded euphemism). --To help you out --If you have ever tripped a cripple, stolen candy from a baby, or knocked an old lady down a flight of stairs that answer is probably no. If you have not done any on those things my sn on AIM is Chyjo. Feel free to say hello.

Music:

A schizophrenic list of my favorites: Rilo Kiley, The New Pornographers, Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Todd Snider, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Moist, The Manic Street Preachers, The Tea Party, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, The Counting Crows, The Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra, The Duhks, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Our Lady Peace, James Taylor, Bad Religion, The Offspring, Linda Ronstadt, Judy Collins, Heart, Nickelback, Megadeth, Alanis Morissette, Tracy Bonham, Natalie Merchant(but only her stuff with 10k maniacs and Tiger Lily, nothing after), The Indigo Girls, Seether, System of a Down, Oasis(Mostly just the stuff from "Whats the Story Morning Glory" and "Definitely Maybe" albums), Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Sloan, Audioslave, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Rage against the Machine, Jefferson Airplane(not starship damnit), Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bush, The Cure, The Dixie Chicks, Live, Cake, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Social Distortion, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Movies:

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, White Oleander, Zoolander, Whats Eating Gilbert Grape, Donnie Brasco, Pirates of the Carribean, Edward Scissorhands, Finding Neverland(basically everything Depp ever starred in), Spy Game, Man on Fire, Enemy of the State, Any Given Sunday, The Count of Monte Cristo, Memento, The Lord of the Rings, Bend it Like Beckham, Heavenly Creatures, Smoke Signals, Sin City, Boys don't Cry, Sneakers, In Good Company, Garden State, The Incredibles, Scream, The Distinguished Gentleman, The American President, Dave, The Fisher King, Dumb and Dumber, High Fidelity, There's something about Mary, The Big Lebowski, Insomnia, Million Dollar Baby, The Usual Suspects, The Rainmaker, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, Scream, Heartbreakers, The Sweetest Thing, American Wedding, The Wedding Crashers. My Cousin Vinny, Big Fish, King Arthur, Constantine, V for Vendetta, A History of Violence.

Television:

Rome -- second to none. I would give up a kidney to get the second season aired earlier. There have only been a few great Television shows that were actually worth watching, all of which were cancelled quickly, but as they say only the good die young. In my humble opinion These include : My so Called life, Freaks and Geeks, and Wonderfalls. Entourage and The L word and Veronica Mars are all very well done too.

Books:

Kurt Vonnegut is the man, "Mother Night" and "The Cat's Cradle" are two of the best novels ever written IMHO. AFter that I absolutely love Alan Moore's work, anyone who thinks that the comic genre can't be seriuos literature should take a look at "The Watchmen" , "V for Vendetta", and "Promethea". I enjoy reading Nancy Farmer's blend of fantasysci-fi, as well as old fantasies like TLOTR and "Watership Down". I love to read about history, especailly Sharon Penman's historical fiction on Plantagenet England. I can never get enough of history books about Nazi Germany( Hubris/Nemesis the two volume set by Kershaw are my favorites), and histories of Stalinist Russia. For trashier reads, I've always enjoyed Ken Follet Novels. I just read "Smashed" by Koren Zailckas. Chuck P is pretty cool. Fight club, Lullaby, Diary yadda yadda yadda. All that shit.

Heroes:

William Rivers Pitt(and all writers like him) for fighting so long and hard to expose the truth when everything has been and most likely always will be stacked against him. Todd Snider for giving country/folk music a conscience again rather than leaving it to rot with the troglodytes screaming jingoistic ballads. Noam Chomsky for always making sense regardless of all of the politicians and the medias attempts to deride him. John Edwards for giving me just a tiny glimmer of hope for the future. Dennis Kucinich for always standing by his principles even when it meant destroying himself financially, and then bouncing back from ruin. Ani Difranco for kicking more A$$ than most people ever will, not to mention her killer songs. AFter that I'm adding in Kurt Cobain, Richey Edwards, Che Guevara , and Fidel Castro just for $hits and Giggles.
