About Me

S’agit-il de jazz ou de world made in Paris...Patrick Saussois se produit fréquemment à l'étranger, particulièrement aux USA, au Canada, en Belgique, mais aussi en Suisse, Allemagne, Norvège, Italie, Pays-Bas, Grande-Bretagne...ENGLISH VERSION :Born in Paris in 1954, Patrick Saussois is a self-taught guitarist who learned music by paying attention to artists such as Django Reinhardt and Henri Crolla, but essentially those he had been close to as a still young guitar player in the 60’s: Jacques Montagne, Maurice Ferret, Lousson, Joseph and Babik Reinhardt or the great Matelo Ferré he would often accompany. His curiosity led him to get involved in all styles of jazz and of music in a larger sense. He was thus heard alongside jazzmen such as Ted Curson, Gianni Basso, Benny Waters, Rhoda Scott, Houston Person, Richie Cole, Bucky Pizzarelli, Jack Wilkins... but also in backing up vocalists or playing contemporary music. Although having mastered his own art form by listening to the legendary jazz guitar players, he also appreciates the rich harmonies of the Brazilians as well as the spirituality of a Grant Green. His discography (over 20 albums as a leader) bears witness to this artistic open-mindness. Further to these experiences, he created in 1996 the ‘Alma Sinti’ group. Erudite and endowed with a keen sense for federating energies and for communication, he does more than embrace a legacy, he appropriates it and shows intelligence by avoiding the trap of a nostalgia, which is often difficult to bypass in this area of music. On the contrary, he makes it a point of honour to compose originals and to take up pieces originating from other spheres. Aromas of dancing halls, tzigane waltzes, gypsy mind, is all this about jazz or world music...Patrick Saussois and Alma Sinti frequently tour abroad, especially in the USA, Canada and Belgium, but also Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, England...
