Hasstyle (aka
Hassan Shakur Carnado) was born into a childhood of poverty. While Hasstyle’s
family came from Panama to follow the " American Dream "
their American reality was more of a nightmare. Hasstyle vividly remembers his
family living in a single room with no idea when their next meal would come.
With six kids to raise on her own, Ms. Jones couldn't always keep a close eye on
her oldest son. Soon, the streets came calling. Little did he know then, the
visions of drug sells and endless crime his eyes took in would one day fuel the
ink in his pen. On the days there was no food, he filled his soul by writing
and remembers poetry as an outlet, something he liked to do. Since his grandma
was an opera singer and his grandpa was head of a choir, young Hamim felt like
it was in his blood. Yet at the same time the dream so far fetched.
