Tsering Purtag
.. a Swiss born Tibetan, started practicing guitar at the age of thirteen. After playing with bands like “Torkilâ€, “Rim of Ruin†and “Roadfeverâ€, he formed a rock trio with his two brothers, named simply “Purtagâ€. Their first album, "greetings from the roof of the world", was well received by the international press, and particularly Tsering’s guitar work, then influenced mainly by the likes of Van Halen, Malmsteen and Hendrix, got a lot of praise. In order to promote that record, Purtag played gigs all over Europe.
Their second album, "Ocean of Wisdom", which Tsering Purtag composed and arranged single-handedly, contains ancient tibetan lyrics as well as some excessive use of synthesizer guitar.
The third CD “Tsering Purtagâ€, was recorded with Phil Schweidler (bass) and Simon Kistler (drums), two of the finest swiss musicians. By then, Tsering Purtag had been pushing the envelope by incorporating a heavy dose of funk into his style. Nevertheless, the guitar playing is just as intense. The recording took place in various studios in Switzerland, and was mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound in New York.
Phil Hero
Swiss-born Phil Hero studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music and
the Jazz School in Zurich, and has worked in the past with many bands
on stage or in studio. He is a founding member of the stuning swiss
progrock band BUCKMINSTER where he is also honing his skills as a
composer/arranger and digging deep in his bag of vast musical
influences. Compensating for the lack of straight grooves, he enjoys it
very much rocking along with Tsering and Felix. His accomplished and
powerful bass playing provides the solid ground for the sound of
ROCKFUEL.

Felix Waldispühl
..„Born in the 70..s in Zürich my musical journey started when I was 11 years old. I learned to play the trombone and played my whole schooldays in a youth orchestra, then discovered the drums and tought myself how to rock. After working in a record shop I began studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Zürich (as Phil did) and played since then in different bands and projects. More information about my activities on www.feelxmusic.ch In 2001 I discovered to write songs and recorded some of them on two albums so far with the next one in the works. My musical taste includes many different styles, but I love the old-school rock from the 60..s and 70..s as Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Beatles, Stones, The Who, ZZ Top as well as the progressive Rock-Bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Rush and so on. Most influental drummers are John Bonham, Ian Paice, Mitch Mitchell, Simon Phillips, Jeff Porcaro among many others. I always liked to play in a trio-situation, and with Tsering and Phil it feels very comfortable and satisfying.“Â
