About Me

My mind always seems to be consumed with all sorts of random ideas and thoughts, and for some reason, I never seem to be able to completely get rid of the endless stream that continues to flow. As a result, I am constantly trying to get all these churning thoughts out of my brain and, over the years, I have found that writing songs allows me to expunge this overwhelming brain activity. (Basically, it has become my therapy)
I am also a visual artist and oftentimes I write my songs according to what I am seeing in my head, which might make it a bit confusing to the rest of you, but to me it is perfectly logical. I especially like to write in layers with multiple depths to the songs, as I feel it is more powerful to have different levels of interpretation.
In conclusion, I hope that my songs have now sent random thoughts and ideas swirling through YOUR brain. It pleases me to know that maybe someone else out there has some new thoughts jumbling up their brain that might soon be expunged into something else for the rest of us to enjoy.
I hope you enjoy my songs.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.benjyrench.com
Band Members: All songs were written, performed, and produced by Benjy Rench. Linus Morris wrote the lyrics to "Berlin Walls" and played Harmonica on "Better Never." DJ Loczi scratches on "PNG Flavor" and co-wrote "New Day."

Influences: I really like these bands, but I don't try to mimick their sound: Beck, Gorillaz, Cold War Kids, Matt Costa, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vince Lombardi, Clay Aiken (nah, that last one was just a joke), Sublime, The Shins, Creedence Clearwater, Moby, Cake, Norah Jones, G-Love and Special Sauce, Neil Young, Badly Drawn Boy, Damien Rice, Geggy Tah, and R.L. Burnside. (There are more but that is enough for now)

This next list is really what influences me more than music: Literature (I love to read), Well made movies, the myriad of cultures around me, learning from the mistakes that others make, the global battle between nature and industry, Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Books, creative artists, people who possess wisdom, my life experiences, my spiritual journey, and I can't forget my family and friends, and sometimes my students...hehe.
