About Me

My first official book is out... "Concrete Evidents" You can purchase it through me for $10 or get it online for $12 (two dollars for shipping lol) Poetic Assasin left the womb in September of 1983 with a pen in hand, and it hasn’t left his grip since. At a young age he picked up on his skill of creativity, especially with words, putting phrases and sentences together in ways that other children his age couldn’t. “I was never good at verbally expressing myself,” Assasin said. What I did know how to do was to take a pen, apply it to paper, and release my emotion fluently. In those days he never had a giant binder, folder, or even a notebook to put his poems together as papers became as random pieces of paper became as common as the roaches in his house. “I would carry loose sheets in my back pocket, and if I didn’t have paper I would use napkins, bounty was my best friend,” Assasin said. “I never took what I was doing seriously, I just like to write.” As the years went by, the work of Assasin became more polished in his eyes and his English classes started to introduce poetry. While looking at the works of poets such as Shelly, Wordsworth, and Shakespeare, he realized that there was something different between his work and theirs. “At the same time that I became intrigued by the work of John Keats, I also came to terms that my work was nothing like the so called pioneers of poetry,” Assasin said. “I wondered if that was a bad thing to not follow the path of the so called pioneers of poetry, or should I continue doing my own thing.” Fast forward while keeping the finger on play and during a span of three years, (14-17) Assasin wrote over 500 poems, but to him he doesn’t see that as anything special. “I don’t really think that was anything to brag about other than the strict discipline I had which consisted of writing at least 2 poems a day,” Assasin said. The poems were all about either love or heartache, no real variety to what I was crafting. But during the process of creating those 500 poems, he realized that he had a gift, but what to do with it, he was still trying to figure out.
During the beginning of his college years, Assasin stumbled upon another form of poetry which has changed him forever. “I don’t want to go into too much detail which I might end up doing anyway, but I went to a Barnes and Noble one day and a kind of poetry reading was being held,” Assasin said. People were actually performing what they had written days and months prior, and some were even reciting without use of the paper.”
From that point on he has been having an affair with spoken word.
Currently Poetic Assasin has been holding open mics hostage, featuring in the dreams of rivals, and telling the crowd to have the number for the fire department on speed dial because in approximately 3-4 minutes the stage will begin to blaze. Now armed with 2500 poems a self made book titled “Concrete Evidents,” numerous features, slam victories held, and a fan base that is more spread than peanut butter on bread, Assasin is ready to turn it up to the next level.
“I’m not trying to be Malcolm or Martin with this gift,” Assasin said. “But I am using this gift to change the way people think about issues and problems in their community and outside of it. I would like to be able to impact the seven year old that is continually teased as well as the thirty five year old woman with five children and one on the way. To me this isn’t a hobby, it is my birthright, to help and inform others creatively and in ways that are fresher than a colored ziplock bag”
