Mindflower is a project established in South Florida in 1997 by core members Ira Saltzman (keyboards), Randy Bates (vocalist & poet extraordinaire), and Craig Martin (guitars & vocals). The original rhythm section was Randy LaPierre (bass), and Damien Caracatsanis (R.I.P., Heaven has another killer drummer). The band moved to Los Angeles by early 1998 with the addition of Martin Davis on bass, and Norm Block on drums. Members and contributors to the Mindflower venture include Scot Coogan (drummer, Brides of Destruction), Jimmy D'Anda (drummer, formerly of The Bullet Boys), Alan Vine (Vince Neil band), and Phil Varone (drummer, formerly of Saigon Kick and Skid Row). We have been fortunate to have worked and recorded with such notable producers as Howard Benson (Hoobastank), Dave Resnick, Capt. Kirk Kelsey (Creed), and Michael Reid (formerly of Wang Chung). The Mindflower sound is poetic, chaotic, provocative, brutally honest and constantly evolving. Our endeavor is to create beautiful music for all free thinkers, truth seekers and soothsayers.
