I'm a songwriter. It's what I do when I'm not working. I have been writing music since I was about 13. I have had a few successes in the music business, but hope to have some bigger ones in the future. In 1983 as a teenager, I had two songs published by Hit-Kit music. I also scored an independent record deal (back when they made vinyl 45's) and got national distribution of the "A" side. Soon after that, the royalty checks stoped coming and I went to college and got a degree in Political Science, got married and started a family. I pretty much stopped playing music, but I never stopped writing. I got back into music in the early 90's and went back to my musical roots-Bluegrass. Since then I have had a lot of fun playing regionally in the bluegrass group New Dixie Storm. The band was named SC Bluegrass Band Champions in 2006 as sanctioned by RenoFest, and placed fourth in the band competion at SPBGMA (Society For The Preservation of Bluegrass Music) in Feburary of 2009. Only in the last year did I decide that I should do something with the file cabinet full of songs that I have written over the years. Most recently one of my tunes, Truman's Vision (On Thurmond's Red Clay) was selected for use in the PBS documentary "Like Heaven On Earth", the story of America's entry into the nuclear age and the cold war. The sound track was recorded by Grammy award winning Randy Kohrs (www.randykohrs.com), and will be included on his new CD. That's really all there is to know about me-except I do have a cat named Elvis. I hope to have a cut in a major music market someday. I spend my spare time writing and making trips to Nashville and playing mandolin with New Dixie Storm (myspace.com/newdixiestorm, www.newdixiestorm.com).
