And the Armed was assembled in late 2007 with two specific goals in mind: play music that would help build a scene in their hometown of Brandenburg Kentucky, and grab the attention of record labels world wide. ATA is constructed of five diverse individuals, all with different views and opinions about music and its styles. Despite these differences, they do all agree on one thing, the music they play and promote.After the demise of Brandenburg KY based groups, Last to Reconcile and Born Broken, three members of the two bands began writing and collecting ideas in hopes of starting a new band. Justin Flaherty and Shelby Nunn of Born Broken and Ben Haukom of Last to Reconcile/False Witness started looking for additional members in December of '07. After searching for another guitar player, Zach Bandy of Hardinsburg Kentucky (The Weaks Notice) was the missing member they were looking for. He not only offered ATA a unique style of guitar playing, but had a very open mind as far as writing and seemed to fit the part perfectly. The band continued writing and also continued the venture of finding the final piece of the puzzle. They auditioned several bass players, and finally made a decision with someone that Justin, Shelby, and Ben had know for quite some time. Grant Wilson and his previous group, Thornhill, had split a year or so. Grant brought solid play to the table, a well rounded knowlege of music, and a colorful personality.With the experience these members have aquired and the raw talent they possess, And the Armed feels that the stage is set and is ready to bring their music to the masses. Look for ATA in a venue near you. Their debut EP is set to release in April of '08 and is entitled "It Has Begun;" When these five guys debut, their musical journey will only have begun.
