He’s cool calm and collective, but most of all rap fans he’s finallyhere. Proud son of the Hawaiian Islands J-Scrilla is the West Coast’snewest rap sensation. After slamming through every major party inHawaii, Scrilla came to California and made the Bay Area take noteimmediately. He battled rapper after rapper on San Francisco’s 106.1KMEL with Evan Locke and after winning in his first rap forum, Scrillawas signed on to Hollywood Records in Burbank under Peter Paterno. †Iwas so excited man, I thought to myself yo this is it Jay we comingup.†Once signed, Scrilla recorded his first single entitled †DroppinThe Science†a spin off from the Thomas Dolby original hit †Blinded MeWith Scienceâ€. Although the label was very happy with the singleScrilla really felt that Hollywood and Paterno wasn’t really behind himor his vision. So after several appearances and shows, Scrilla opted tosign out of his contract and become a free agent. †I was really bummedout, they were making it seem like the rap world wasn’t ready for anartist from Hawaii, so I took my loot and bounced back to the Baydetermined to prove them all wrong.â€
During this difficult time, Scrilla ran into a Bay Area rap artistnamed †Young Lifeâ€. †Life was very special man, you could see it inhis look and in his voiceâ€. The two really hit it off so well thatScrilla ended up singing several choruses for Life’s new CD called â€Thugg Muzik “. That is where Scrilla met up with Independent Rap MogulGreg Gali of GMG Music. †Greg-G loved my voice and really felt themelodies that I implanted into my musicâ€. Gali then started to useScrilla for several other projects with many heavyweight undergroundartists to get his name out onto the scene. It worked, and it worked sowell that Gali had Scrilla join his current tour in Asia to open up forplatinum recording artist Keith Martin. †Asia was fat man, I loved itand I do hope one day I can go back and shock it again.†That tourconfirmed for Gali that Scrilla was ready to be released as a full-timeartist. He then had Scrilla return to the GMG studios immediately tobegin recording his new CD †Rise & Shineâ€. †This CD is veryspecial to me, it’s my way of giving back to the Bay Area for all thelove and respect that they showed me.††There’s nothing like the WestCoast rap scene man and I’m very proud to finally be a part of it. â€
Rightly so, as word has now leaked out that J-Scrilla has teamed upwith the Bay’s own legendary DJ King Assassin of Liferdef Records. â€Assassin helped me after all my family and friends turned their backson me and that’s something that I will never forget.††From here onout, it’s GMG, Liferdef & Koch baby that’s my word.â€
So there you have it rap fans, the stage has been set his CD is nowcompleted and with distribution ready to hit this 2008 with KochRecords, Scrilla will bring his music and love for his hometown Hawaiito the forefront of today’s rap music scene. His first single “About ToRide Featuring Persia of Blacktie Records has already been leaked on tostreets & several rap radio stations, It’s also getting tons ofpositive feedback. †Hawaii really has something to be proud of â€stated Gali, †J-Scrilla is very talented and I’m sure he’ll do veryvery well.â€
