Hey Everyone, my name is Ben Machtolf and myself along with some other friends decided that we wanted to start something fresh and real in Orange County. Honestly, I wanted to start a bible study for anyone who had a longing to learn Gods word and have a more personal and in-depth relationship with Jesus Christ. The truth is that most of my generation, being those from age 18-30, don’t want to go to “CHURCH†or even a “BIBLE STUDY†they would rather hang out or do something else with there time then go to a place where they feel judgment or condemnation for not being “HOLY.†I am not saying that Church is a bad place, but rather sometimes it may seem that church makes people feel bad about themselves rather then a place of rest and safety. I believe that Christianity in the Religion sense is misunderstood by many people.
Christianity is not a RELIGION. It is a relationship with Jesus Christ. I believe that this is where most people misunderstand the point of Christianity. Religion deals with certain rules and regulations you must follow in order to be considered righteous or “HOLYâ€
Christianity’s main point is that Jesus died for our sins and that through “FAITH†in Him (and nothing else) we are saved and considered Righteous and HOLY. It is very easy, but at the same time very hard because we live in a world that is so focused on doing something to achieve a reward.
We must work hard at work to get a raise or we must get a degree in order to be successful. Everything in our world deals with us doing something for something in return. But Jesus said, “your faith has made you righteous†to Abraham and we are saved through Faith in Jesus. There is nothing we can do in order to gain righteousness or salvation. It is a FREE gift given to us from the creator of the world.
Anyways if you are looking for a place to hang out, get into the word, be real and be encouraged then come to The Arbor Wednesday nights at 7:30!!
