Cosa Nostra also called Marawda — when you hhear the name what comes to your thought?? Is this a criminal, a gangster or a thief? Whichever, Collin Weir is none of the above. Born in Kingston Jamaica, He's an entertainer (DJ) one who has superb talent to fuse the hardcore dancehall, one drop reggae and a bit of hip hop. Through this way of putting ords together and delivery, one can see that his style is unique. (witty).It all started in Hellshire Park his community in St Catherine, after his family moved from Maxfield Ave in the mid 80's. His father 'Arrow' was a singer, but with little recognition, so music was in his genes from birth. He started showing signs of musical inclination at seven years of age when he made a guittar with a sardine can, a piece of board and fishing line. pretty soon paint pants made his drm sets. By the time he was a teenager he was already vibing with his freinds on the corner who then encouraged him to take it seriously as they could see that he was ahead of his time.He received recognition by performing on community events, barbeques, concerts, Christmas treats, anywhere to get some attantion. In 1990 the tower for his community sound system, Star Dust Disco, took him to the studio to do some dub plates, since then his musical skills have grown considerably. Da Mafia's was a group that formd in 1996 with his friend Suicide (Now St Matthew). In 1998 Da Mafiaa's changed there name to Marawda. In 2001 Suicide foun Christianity, hence Marawda continued as a solo artist. Over the years Marawda has performed at a number of events such as Spring Break 01, 02, 03, 05, 06 in Negril, Amnesia Night Club Ocho Rios, Links Pon The Beach Portmore, Ramble; St Thomas, West Kingston Jamboree, Clock Tower Plaza Half Way Tree and Fully Loaded 07, Marawda has been to quite a few places and getting good responses from the audience.Marawda has recorded several songs for producers including "What a gwaan", "Di Truth" featuring Voicemail, "I'm cool, Im fine" produced by Stephen 'Algo Riddimz' Webster for Black Hand Records. Also on the roster of songs are: "Better Mus Come", "Di Table Mus Turn" for Famzhouse Productions, "Party All Night", "How Wi Ago Mek It Out" Tug Mansion production. He has also done music videos for "Trodding Dis Road", A Daseca Production, "Better Must Come/Peace" Video's Famz House Production and "Di Table Must Turn", which got rotation on all major cable station.In January 2007 Marawda re-invented his style, image, music and name- Costa Nostra otherwise call Marawda.Costa Nostra has been influenced by legends like Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Jacob Miller, Ninja Man and Bounty Killer to name a few. He's a talented young man who can write songs, is good at delivering them and still improving.
