About Me

Hello, my name is Dave. I was born in Manchester, but grew up around the herts/essex area. I went to school in Saffron Walden, an old market town about 30 minutes out of Cambridge - didn't learn much, but I had lots of fun.I then went on to Harlow College, where I did a silly 2 year foundation course called 'Rock and Contempary Music'. Some would say that it was a waste of time, but they would be wrong; I met some truly great people at that time in my life, some of whom are still friends to this day.I then started hanging around with some friends who had a band called 'The Peaceniks', who were a truly talented band - and through them I learned how to write and construct songs. After a few false starts, I eventually formed a band called Houston 500, a 5 piece Rock band. We wrote some great songs together, played lots of shows and eventually got a 2 album deal with independent label Global Warming Records (who have also worked with the likes of Bellatrix, Liam Lynch, and Drugstore, amongst others). We demoed an album (you'll find some tracks from the sessions on this page) and released one single, 'Queen of the Crackwhores' (which, due to the title, no DJ in the world would play). Unfortunatley, shortly after the release of the single, the band split up due to creative and personal differences.I now live in a sleepy Hertfordshire town with my fantastic wife Maria, my beautiful little girl Ellie and we are currently expecting another little bundle of joy in the summer. I work for a scuba diving magazine, which is fast paced but excellent fun. Musically, I'm currently working on a new project with an old friend, but due to our conflicting schedules, its a bit of a slow burner. I'm always interested in hearing about other projects too, so if you're intersted in working with me, drop me a line.

Band Members: Dave - Vox
Influences: My personal influences are many and varied....but mostly, I like to Rock.....and in no particular order here are some of the bands I like: Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal, RHCP, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, FNM, Green Day, Fat Dragon(formerly The Peaceniks - RIP), Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros, Living Colour, System of a Down, Dead Monroe, The HuRt, Muse, PJ Harvey, Velvet Revolver, David Bowie, The Police, The Fratellis, the list goes on.... I love films, too; here are some films I've seen that I thought were quite good (there are many, many others but I can't possibly list them all): Seven, Goodfellas, Lock Stock, Snatch, Donnie Brasco, Usual Suspects, American Beauty, Amelie, There's something about Mary, Dumb and Dumber, Cable Guy, Liar Liar, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Shaun of the Dead, The Shawshank Redemption, Trainspotting, Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Toy Story, Casino, Trading Places, The Lost Boys, Alien, Aliens, Predator, 2001, Westworld, Planet of the Apes (not the shit Tim Burton version), Lethal Weapon, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Blade Runner, The Thing, E.T., Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Twelve Monkeys, Close Encounters, Platoon, Fight Club, The Matrix, X-Men trilogy, Terminator and Terminator 2, Casino Royale (blond ugly dude playing bond... who'd' have thought it?), Donnie Darko, Back to the Future, Life of Brian, The Holy Grail, Spiderman and Spiderman 2 (Spiderman 3 was devastatingly shit), Superman l & ll, Superman Returns, Batman Begins (the greatest superhero movie ever made).... oh, and did I mention STAR WARS? It's fucking great and I've loved it since I was 4 years old - I even like the prequels. Predictably, my favourite STAR WARS film is 'The Empire Strikes Back', and my least favourite is 'The Phantom Menace' although it's really not that bad, dudes. I thought 'Revenge of the Sith' was great, although a little rushed towards the end. In 1999, I went to Australia, and on the way over there I told two Japanese girls that I was going over to film my parts as Boba Fett in Episode 2. They were dead impressed, and took lot's of photos of me. That's how I roll.
Sounds Like: Jim Morrison in a street fight with an alley cat, apparently.
Record Label: Don't need one. Got the internet.
