About Me

Awhile back I decided to abandon a life in science to try to find one in writing- whatever that may have meant to me at the time. I moved to the city, ate a lot of ramen, drank a lot of booze.
My brothers refer to this period as "The time you made mom cry a lot."
Then, over the summer I entered a writing contest held by the Memoirists Collective , a group of four fantastic authors ( Maria Dahvana Headley , Josh Kilmer Purcell , Danielle Trussoni , and Hillary Carlip ) from competing NY publishing houses.
The prize? Mansucript readings by editors at Holt, Hyperion, and Harper Collins.
The competion? Fierce.
The result..?

(skip to the end if you're impatient)
According to one Collective author, "...we picked a winner, Luke Son of NYC, who is not only deeply hilarious, he's got one of those stories that just grabbed us by the scruff of the neck and demanded that we read more. And more. And more...Suffice it to say that Luke spent a chunk of his teenage years living in a chicken coop in Tennessee, stealing books from a junior high library, and reading far more Vonnegut than you'd expect a teenage fugitive to be reading."
I'm now waist deep in my book manuscript, Welcome Back, Yuppie.
Interested? Feel free to add me here on myspace or hit me up in the city. In all likelihood I'll end up buying you a drink. Thanks to all for your support, and deepest apolologies to my mother.

My Interests

Why the Ivy League can suck it.

meh, this entry may be a little NYCentric

Ugh, nothing like kicking off the finalists contest by taking a bike ride upstate and snapping my wrist in half. So it looks like I'll be typing my 2000 words with one hand (don't bother, my friends h...
