Well I'm back in the Minneapolis area after being gone since 2000...spent a few years in Duluth and lived in the UK for a year...its been a wild ride! Just graduated from UMD with a degree in Music and Foreign Studies. The culmination of a long and esteemed academic career...see below!
I went for business, then switched to psychology, then switched to criminology, then finally switched to music education. So I was focused, beginning my freshman year in my 3rd year of college. oops. You'd figure that would make me haul ass to get out right? nahhh. I went to England for a year and studied abroad at the University of Birmingham, and lived in the dorms at the same university. Spent a month travelling Europe at Christmas time and another month for spring break, rediculous times were had by all.
Then I returned here, went back up to Duluth, and went to work on that Music Ed Degree. Things were flying along, and I was due to graduate and become a choir director sometime around may of 2007. But then I started working in classrooms, and for the love of god, it was awful. I did fine, and the kids were ok, but I realized I was not the person to babysit other people kids for the rest of my life. SO. I switched to a BA in music with a minor in foreign studies in the fall of 2005, and graduated in spring of 2006...a year ahead of the education degree track! Saved money!
So what do I do with that saved money? I go to grad school for arts administration of course! Or not. Did that for a semester, and disliked that more than the teaching. Oh well, live and learn, and I got to defer my student loans for another 6 months.
Then I went to work for MakeMusic, where I got to work with my favorite music notation software, Finale, every day of the week. For the most part, I liked the job and the company and people were great. However, I was doomed to a smaller wage than my sewer cleaning job from the previous 4 years...something wasnt right there. I had to let them go.
So I headed to Target, the big red bullseye company, you know the one. I did the same kind of crap there, and got yelled at constantly for 8 hours a day by irate people who I couldnt provide a solution for due to company policies, that was really fun, so I got out of there too.
Now here comes the really funny part...I'm back at my old high school employer, Davanni's. I finished the training program at my old Bloomington store and worked there as a manager for a few months, and now I've been transferred to the Minnetonka location, just a straight shot down the road from my house, and a much shorter commute...yikes.
I live in a one bedroom near uptown in Minneapolis, closer to Lake Calhoun than uptown, about 2-3 blocks away from the pond, depending on your yard stick. I was on a wild ride through life for the last few years, and things are starting to look like they may become steady, and thats kind of weird for me. I like me some adventures. So if youd like to help me keep life fresh and exciting, feel free to say hello!
