About Me

Drew Kolar, here. Some of you know me, some of you may not. I'm originally from West Virginia, and living in New York City. I write songs. I sing. You know, that whole thing... Check out the music, leave some comments and let me know what you think!

Also, just a side-note, "Ackwards Recordings" is not a real record label, it's just... well... me and my computer. ACK is the airport call letters for Nantucket, my favorite place in the world besides New York City and the basis for the song "As You Once Were." Enjoy the music! And if you're a big label or someone who wants to record one of my songs, or write with me, send me a message and we'll work it out...Currently on my profile here, if you check out the last song, it's called "Choose." This is my most-recent, most bestest recording right now... It features Bace, my Norwegian friend who plays piano and is also an Alanis and Natalie fan. For those of you who want to hear his stuff, or see what he looks like (this is partially to humor Tiffany, who commented down below), here's his MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/baceNow for your further enjoyment, added January 22 from a performance about three weeks ago... Me playing an older song, "Shades of Yellow," at Stain, where I host(ed) the open mic night and will return to after London... Enjoy the video!!

And... check out this woman here, Kate Havnevik. She's cool and she's ALSO Norwegian. I've been really into her music lately, maybe you guys will like her as well: http://www.myspace.com/katehavnevikAND If you get a chance, add and say hello to my daughter, Coconut Fantastico:

Sounds Like: A lighthouse beacon far off into the distance. The waves crashing upon the sand. A light breeze blowing through the trees, across the beach. Then suddenly, without warning, a hurricane rushing towards mainland, catching everyone off guard.
Okay, actually... Natalie Imbruglia or Alanis Morissette, in male form, possibly with harder rock edge. Also, planning on dabbling into electronic sounds and experimentation in general. Watch this space for new studio tracks! Even I don't know what to expect yet, although it will probably be relaxing and somewhat poppy with a couple unexpected twists and turns.
