"JACKSON KALBFUS": was formed as the band "ANACHRONiSM" in 1991, whose music falls under several categories. The dictionary says an anachronism is “a thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, esp. a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned.†This name for the band was chosen since the music did not seem to fit into the contemporary music scene. The purpose of Anachronism is to provide a creative outlet for the members, all of whom are imaginative songwriters.
The past and present members are W.E.Jackson, Dan Kalbfus, Clay Jackson , Brian Kalbfus, Thomas Murphy, David Niner, and David Giddings.
THE GENESIS OF ANACHRONiSM:
The year was 1987. The place: Westchester County, New York. WEJ and Dan became friends in high school through their common interest in music, and the band, Genesis, in particular. They got together with Brian to play through Genesis songbooks, which led to writing their own songs. They dreamed of performing live as a band, but it was not to be. WEJ was moving to Florida with his family. Just when things were getting fun, it looked like the end.
JUST THE BEGINNING:
Three years later, WEJ, while in New York visiting friends from high school, called Dan and Brian and asked if they wanted to play some music. The three then picked up where they left off writing and recording songs. Over the years, more than 100 songs have been written and recorded by various members of Anachronism. Even though they lived too far away from each other to perform as a group, they kept the dream alive by sending each other cassette tapes of song demos. Occasionally they would get together to record proper versions of these songs and send them off to record companies. The songs were always rejected but more songs were written, more for the joy of creating music than for the hope of getting signed to a label.
THYME FOR A CHANGE:
In 1994, the name of the band was changed from Anachronism to Thyme. This was because it sounded too much like “Anarchy†which would be better suited to a metal band. WEJ had the idea while looking at his spice rack (hmmm... Tarragon? no... sounds like a metal band... aha! Thyme!) During this period, the newly named Thyme nearly got signed to an independent music label based in Detroit, Michigan. The deal fell through, though, and this would be the closest the band would get to a recording contract.
REMINISCENCE:
In 1999 the name was changed back to Anachronism for nostalgic reasons. It was agreed that image is not as important as having a name that carries emotional resonance.
PRESENTLY SPEAKING:
In late 2007, WEJ and Dan decided to change the bands name from ANACHRONiSM to “JACKSON KALBFUS†due to the mounting number of bands flying that particular moniker. The name may have changed but the music is better than ever and ready for the world to enjoy.
