My name is not really Clay Faces, it's Billie Hudson and I am a potter. I have been a member of Louisiana Crafts Guild since 2005. I create "face pots" by hand building clay pots that have funny faces all over them. They are very unique and each pot is one of a kind. The inspiration came from a Kleenex box, and after about two years of trying different things, I found the look that makes them work. The "face pots" can be used for anything or nothing, but they have one specific purpose, to make people smile. After coiling and shaping the pots, I make the faces, and as I put them on the pots, they tell me what they want to look like. When the pots are fired, glazed, and fired again, they are sent out into the world to work their magic. My face pots are in the Sans Souci Gallery in Lafayette, LA. and in the Gueydan Museum gift shop in Gueydan , LA.
