About Me

Leith O’Malley – Jazz is Art, Art is Jazz..
Artist Leith O’Malley loves art and he loves jazz. So much so that he decided to to mix the two one day. What poured out was more than enough to fill a canvas or two..
“I come from a very musical family and I love many different styles of music. In the last ten years or so however, I have become particularly fond of jazz and blues especially the post 1950’s era of American music and even a lot of contemporary jazz being played today. It’s the music of choice when I am painting, and my infatuation has even led to me recently taking up tenor and alto saxophone (much to the cat’s disapproval).
I find a lot of correlations between art and music and I have been fortunate enough to be able to mix both pleasures for my jazz-art series “Jazz Is Art, Art Is Jazz”. This has become an ongoing series of paintings and pastels, which I exhibit in Australian galleries and on international jazz websites”.
Apart from exhibiting his contemporary visual art Leith has also been producing promotional artwork for Jazz Festivals including the Saratoga Jazz Festival (New York), the Rio – Havana - New York Jazz Festival (Moscow) and the Newcastle and Adelaide Jazz Festivals (Australia).
Some of the Jazz is Art artworks featured here are available as limited edition prints and there are also a few designs reproduced on high quality t-shirts. Contact us for more details or follow the links.
