..Purity formed in 2006 as a result of a rockshool project organised in Canterbury, where schoolfriends Jack and Richard met with other musicians and started gaining experience and working as part of a band. Jack and Richard decided to continue to develop a band after the project had ended and over the following months joined forces with their first drummer Dan. Jack, Richard and Dan, having all attended the same school, soon arranged a date for their first rehearsal. During this rehearsal it was discovered that all the members had a very similar taste of music and 'clicked' straight away. This rehearsal saw the creation of their first original piece - 'End Of The Line'. This original alongside a cover of 'Knocking On Heavens Door', led Purity to win a local battle of the bands competition shortly after their very first rehearsal.Due to other committments,Dan had to move on and a search was on for a new drummer.Jack and Rich contacted Dave Neal and were put in touch with Jordan Baker. After inviting Jordan to a practice ,a musician with similar music tastes, they asked him to stay .. a couple of weeks of rehersals they had their first outing at the Orange Street Venue,in Canterbury and have not looked back. To date they have played numerous gigs in Thanet and Canterbury area and have won a local Talent contest called the WOW Factor and they won the Regional Final of "Live and Unsigned" which took them to the Grand Final in Croydon. ( the final had 18 acts in the U18 group from an original 10,000 acts nationwide) Although they did not win the Final they won an award for the most exposure over the competition. They won 2 days recording with HL Studios in Southampton who have produced people such as Craig David.More recently they opened up for TREX,the Glitter Band and Suzi Quattro at Quex Park at a 70's extravaganza. They were very well received and left the crowd wanting more. They are hopeful this will bring further opportunities in the near future. For now they are looking to gig as often as they can.
