Chopstick records

Based in Ghent, Belgium ‘Chopstick records’ is an independent label that focusses on Jazz and improvised music.Chopstick records officialy produced two records: 'Konglong' by the quintet Moker (co-production with W.E.R.F. records 2005) and 'Chopsticks', a compilation record featuring Moker, Brick quartet, Barkin' and Prak (2007). In case of Chopsticks, recordings were autoproduced on location between 2005 and 2007. More than just a sampler this record is a time document that shows the musical and artistic connection between these projects and musicians. Accents are clearly put on improvisation and more specific on momentum with a strong narrative character. Dialogues, collective improvisations and some composed and arranged pieces as well, are colouring this record that offers an adventurous trip to the listener.Besides cd productions Chopstick records is promoting, managing and booking all upper mentioned bands and projects as well and it has the ambition on the long term to offer a platform to musicians and initiatives who engage themselves for jazz and improvised music in a broader sense...
