The Real Music Club was formed in early 2004 by Judge Trev (from "Inner City Unit"), Honkin' Stu and Slim Tim Slide ("The Uncontrollables"). Part of the Real Festival Music website, http://www.realfestivalmusic.co.uk/
,it was set up due to a lack of venues promoting top-quality original music in the Brighton area.IF YOU ARE A SMALL VENUE OWNER AND WANT YOUR PLACE FILLED...PLEASE GET IN TOUCH - WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW PLACES TO PRESENT REAL MUSIC CLUB
For a wider view of the Real Music Club with links to click on, see our blog.Real Music Club's aim is to showcase the best of Brighton's up-and-coming bands and artists, as well as a few established "names" from these parts. We are rapidly becoming The Place for scouting new talent in all styles of music be it rock, folk, jazz, avant-garde, musical theatre etc.
The first gig was launched 27th January 2004 at the Marlborough Theatre. Judge Trev and Jaki Windmill started the evening with their folky acoustic set and were followed by an increase in volume and tempo by The Uncontrollables (punk/blues slide guitar, harp, drums), featuring Slim Tim Slide, legendary brighton busker, Honkin' Stu and Unbelivable Tone on drums. Captain Sensible kindly stood in on bass. The theatre/pop act "The Las Vegas Mermaids" blew everyones mind with their highly professional, mind expanding, humorous and rather rude sketches utilising live synth, bass and video projections.
Since then The Real Music Club have promoted gigs at various gigs around Brighton on a monthly basis. It was set up for musicians of all ages and musical genres performing original material. Come and join our friendly crowd for a great evening out. Gig posters of gigs staged can be seen in the pics area of this site.
