About Me

The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.cdbaby.com/benjclarke
Band Members: I currently play bass and sing for CORDAY , LARISA STOW & SHAKTI TRIBE , LEOPARD CAPRII , McCREA ADAMS & SHOES FOR INDUSTRY , THE MOCKERS, and occasionally I gig with UNKLE MONKEY . I also write and record - my own stuff, and with a number of different artists.
Influences: BEATLES, were the catalyst and kickstart to a lifetime of music, and a huge influence for many of my life choices, good and bad. **** DIG Harry Nilsson, oh that voice, (as Col. Sherman Potter says, "not enough O's in smoooth...), Elvis Costello for beating them at their own game (like we knew he would), NRBQ (the Stones WISH they grooved like NRBQ), **** REDISCOVERING and immersing in the power and swagger of The Who, kudos for "Endless Wire," what a gift after 24 years - I never needed punk rock, 'cause I had the Who! **** YES are still awe-inspiring, make my bass-hands twitch. **** L.A.'s K-JAZZ makes my mornings easy ... Paul Simon can weave a lyric like a feather that can crush you. What is the deal with Tom Petty (yawn)? Charlie Hunter drops my jawbone to the floor. **** The new cat Stevens, eh, Yusuf cd "An Other Cup" is awesome.ALL those quirky ones: XTC, Kinks, Aimee Mann (Aimee Mann!) and that Fiona Apple record that Jon Brion produced, I think I'm gonna be a Jon Brion fan. Brian Lovely from Cincinnati, hats off to my man, a prince of powerpop and the best damn guitarist on the planet - and the crime is nobody knows. Same for Roger Klug, but he's a hermit. **** Love those Raisins/Bears/psychodots (a Cincinnatian knows) -70's pop - if it was on AM radio, it's in my vocabulary: Spinners, Elton, Olivia Newton John, ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (and if you call yourself an ELO fan but you haven't got ZOOM from 2001 then you are missing out bad!) **** even the novelty stuff - Wildwood Weed (screaming for a remake, that one) The Streak (maybe leave that one alone), what about Brand New Key? (Brand Nookie?) ****The Knack, Cheap Trick, The Cars, bring it! ****I'm sick to death of the friggin' Blues... God save me from the Blues... there are men better suited... and I am fresh outta nylon socks... and I never once shot a man in Memphis, or choked on my own vomit (wait, that's country music...) **** Nu Rock means nothing to me.
Sounds Like: old school pop, baby.... not necessarily exactly like but certainly akin to these types: beatles, NRBQ, ELO, Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, XTC, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Pilot, Jellyfish
Record Label: MagicPilot Records

Jellyfish Tribute CD - a really big deal...

I dig Jellyfish. They emerged in the nineties when everyone was copping the Nirvana dynamic and pop music that sounded like Supertramp, et al, didn't get a lot of notice... but I (typically one to buc...

Pete Townshend!!! ...

perception of God

Is there not a place where all "religions" merge into One truth? Religion is man-made, the best-intentioned humans doing their best, however flawed, to see and know God. The reality of God is unchangi...
