About Me

**NEW UPDATED EVENTS- You can now vote for our songs "Don't" and "To the Top" at ourstage.com. Check out 'view all events' for further info.** Welcome to the new band page of Smack Lewis & The Suburban Scourge. Our current line-up has been playing together since the summer of 2007, but weve all played in bands with one another since about 2002-ish? This current incarnation is'nt too far off from the original. Our sound could be described as rock, ska, and alternative with a focus towards melody. We're fairly new to this internet (myspace in particular), so if you could give us some support by doing stuff like playing our songs on your page, putting us in your top friends, or even just tell people about us, we would be eternally greatful. We could'nt possibly do this without you guys!! The music we make is for everyones listening pleasure and nothing makes us happier than when someone tells us theyre into our music, it just kinda fuels us creatively. We're nothing without the people out there who dig our tunes. We also want you guys to be an active participant in decisions that address the band. We want you guys to be an integral part of this thing. Keep an eye out for bulletins regarding upcoming show dates, some "fan" voting, recordings, and other band information.

Influences: Pixies, Tool, Sublime, 311, Weezer, Zeppelin, The Band, Primus, Dinosaur Jr., The Libertines, Clutch, Frank Black, Bloc Party, Kim Deal (The Breeders), or anything lo-fi such as Pavement, Sebadoh etc..., Cursive, Karate, The Substance/Paul Chadwick, Arcade Fire, Bowie, The Shins, Rancid, Venture Capital (Lordy + Vinald) , Long Beach Dub All-Stars, Neil Young, SpaceHog, Bob Dylan, Hitswell and the nook.
Sounds Like: More or less plain old rock. Our influences are prominantly displayed, while at the same time we keep our sound uniqe and original. We dont really sound like a lot of other bands out there (we mean that to be as modest as it can be) and it is not really a conscious thing, its just kinda how we work together as a band (totally our opinion, youre more than welcome to give us your own, just try to give us some reasoning behind your thoughts (or specific examples when necessary) if/when you do happen to have any criticism, much easier for us to adress the situation if we know specifically what your talking about). Since we have such a diverse range of tastes coursing through each of us, it allows us to combine different styles and sounds that yeilds an end product that maybe wouldnt have come about otherwise. Thats just how we feel, so give us a listen and you can tell us how we sound! If you disagree (were sure some of you do) feel free to drop us a line and tell us why. Were always open to constructive criticism to help broaden our horizons/help us grow. Just make sure that if you do take the time out of your schedule to help us, that its actually constructive criticisim, not just empty negativity.(Sorry for that last line, but someone has forced us to spell everything out (you know who you are) as sort of a disclaimer, we realize it sounds stupid/jerky/pompous, but dems da breaks!)
