The Vienna Jewish Choir embodies the quote of Gustav Mahler “The best of the music is not in the notesâ€, for us it is “Harz un Gefil†(yiddish: heart and sentiment) which resonates in every note we sing and reinvigorates a culture once rich in Jewish music.
The programme of the choir is a colourful composition, as colourful as the choir itself: 48 active members – jews and non-jews, Austrians and Immigrants – sing Yiddisch and Hebrew songs, lithurgic musics and ladino melodies.
The Vienna Jewish Choir was established 1989. We are an independent union, giving many concerts in Vienna and also abroad.
Our goal is to preserve the variety of jewish music tradition and hope to delight many people with it.
