Da A-Town Prince Biography
18 year old A-Town Prince, (Jermaine Antino Harris) born December 12, 1989 in Harrisburg, Pennslyvania, later moved to Monroeville, AL. due to his parents wanting to escape the city life for a better enviroment to raise children. His father (James Arthur Harris) was very strict on Jermaine during his childhood years. His mother (Ruby Lee Harris) raised him most of his childhood life and teen years while James worked driving trucks to keep food on the table. Young Jermaine never got out like normal kids due to having old fashioned parents, so he spent most of his time playing with his older brother (Clyde Benjamin Harris). He was never around several people until he started school. School was hard for little prince having to deal with bullies on a daily bases with no teacher support in dealing with the issues surrounding him. With his parents not knowning the problems their son had in school, Jermaine eagerly with intensed pressure found out about "GANGSTA MOVIES" such as, Juice, Menace II Society, Boyz N Da Hood which lead him to the road of a very touchy attitude ready to fight at any given cost. After numerous fights at Beatrice Elementry the school felt it was time to contact Jermaine's parents. His father discussed the problems with his son then let the situation slide.
At 8 years old, the family began having financial problems and has to move in with Jermaine's grand mother (Mary P. Hunt) in Perdue Hill, AL. Residing with his grand mother for 1 year, the family then decided to move to Frisco City, Al. 9 year old Jermaine thought it would be great because all his family on his mother's side attented Frisco Elementry School. He became involed with a whole new enviroment. Young Prince never knew much about rap music. (Chris Whisette) cousin of Jermaine, came over on several occasions listening to rap music that consist of artist like..2pac, Scarface, Eightball & MJG, Master P and many others, this influenced Jermaine to wanna hear much more of this type of music. Everyday after school he came home and watched BET to find all kinds of rap music, he then began to love rap with a passion. Having a boombox that records tapes was the one thing he wanted and had. He would use blank tapes his father kept to record karoake rap songs, little did he know, he was just starting off the road to sucess.
In 1999, Jermaine's family moved to Monroeville, AL.
10 year old Jermaine was disappointed because he had became use to being around his cousins in Frisco City. Starting off again in a new enviorent he then attended Monroeville Middle School. Jermaine started experiencing difficulties getting along with the other students at M.M.S. They bullied him everyday and provoked fights because Jermaine was new on campus. One day along the way he met Broderick Young who Jermaine started to hang with everyday at school. He felt better about changing so many schools knowning that now he had one real friend. They became close associates from then on out.
The Year Of 2000, Jermaine graduated from M.M.S. Later on, he attended Monroeville Jr. High School. He started to get along with the students more then he did the past years. After coming home watching 106 N' Park everyday young prince became familiar with freestyling. He came to school with associates "Broderick Young and Jimmy Curry" and began to play around about freestyling, suddenly became serious and made it a every friday thing. Jermaine became serious about wanting to be a rapper. He would challenge local rappers and let the students judge the competition. In 2001, he passed on to the 7th grade, self naming himself "J-Roc". Later in the year self he released an entire mixtape album "Thugsville" that consist of freestling off rap beats. He then began to draw attention to people in the town. The cd wasn't the hottest thing on the streets but enough to get him noticed. People from different towns heard the cd and competition because various to local rapper "J-Roc".
The summer of 2003, local rapper "J-Roc" (Jermaine Harris) attented summer school after failing in math and language, where he met local rapper Trigga P (Justin Powell). At first the two wanted to freestyle it out, but unfortunally after so many battles they decided to form a rap duo "Da Alabama Hustlaz".
J-Roc changed his name to "Lil' Tec" after being impressed from the Gangsta style of rap his partna Trigga P emphasized. The two rappers did 2 songs together then began to give out demo's to let everybody hear what they had been working on. They received serious feedback from the demo, also jealousy from people at school (jealous of the duo). In 2004, there was a conflict between the two rappers/best friends, eventually the duo had fallen apart due to "jealousy and niggaz runnin they dick suckas" was how Prince fraized it. It rumored Lil Tec' had done a song about Trigga P that didn't exist and also rumored vice versa that Trigga P had did the same. The whole situation caused the 2 to become moral enemies in summer school. Lil' Tec said something to Trigga P that stirred up heat on the school campus. "Back then i wasn't the man i am today, i mean we could of have resolved that whole issue from jump but i was listenin to niggaz spit garbage in my ear and blow the whole thing out of porportion" is how Prince quoted in the interview with the streetz. Another rumor was put out in class that Trigga P had formed a squad to do Lil Tec' in was what they told 14 year old (Jermaine Harris). He was very upset to the point where he packed a pistol in his bookbag. Jermaine showed the gun to a few people and someone reported it. All three principal's came to class and surrounded him and took his bookbag to the office where they found the weapon. The police came to arrest him, they also seized the weapon using it as evidence in case another crime was committed. Jermaine was expulsed (kicked out of school) for one school term.
In 2005, Principal Larry Turner decided to let Jermaine attend Monroe County High starting as a freshmen at age 15. He then started to affiliate with his former associate/best friend Broderick Young. They started a duo "Thug Limits" and recorded rap songs on a regular bases. Again, Jermaine changed his name from Lil Tec' to "Da A-Town Prince" meaning that he's a Prince from (A Small Town) in alabama not Atlanta. Prince and his rap associate "Yung Maliaki" (Broderick Young) started to rap about life issues after having rough living standards. Jermaine was having problems at school which involved several fights, smoking on school grounds, late for class almost everyday, not getting along with trouble making students, cursing the teachers out, failure to do his school work. Getting in trouble almost everyday for odd reasons started to bring stress on Prince. Later, in 2006 Maliaki formed a family organization "O.$.G. Squad" (Ova Comin N' Survivin Gangstaz). The family consist of...Yung Maliaki, Da A-Town Prince, and Trill. They were very close and stuck together in hard times. Close to the end of 2006 old associate Jason McCarthy moved back home from texas and immediately became a part of the family. Year 2007, Prince couldn't handle all the pressure from staying in trouble at school so eventually he dropped out.
Now he's ready to record music and ready to be heard. He got with Yungsta (Jason McCarthy) making several mixtape songs distrubuting them on soundclick.com and at school. Maliaki worked with them to complete the album but it never was completed. Shortly after, a local group called "Da Startin 5" AKA Small City Mafia released an album that bought about serious attention among rappers in da ville. O.$.G. Squad said "they just tryna get it like we is" until they heard a song that mentioned everybody in the county hollin out they name and that they were runnin the ville and other places in the county. The family felt the group was insulting all the rappers in da ville. O.$.G. then took the beat they used for "Point Em' Out" and made a crucial diss track called "Stomp Em Out". Eventually, The Mafia heard the track and decided to come back with a track entitled "OSG Who". Later on, O.$.G. Squad heard what that did on myspace and released another diss track "No Mo Gamez In BA". The two groups beefed for a short period of time. They discussed the whole situation man to man which lead to dropping the whole beef. In the summer of 2007 Prince and Yungsta made a smash hit "Wipe My Swag" that really bought the family recognition. Prince started dating Sequoyah Mason (now his fiance) who helped him to advertise their music in the streetz. After being promoted and getting many plays off the song bought about different offers. Producers wanted to affialate with the group. One of these producers was the producer of California "Klasic" that lead to the track "Im Cold".

Hit song "Wipe My Swag" was supposingly to spark the radio but never did due to problems in the O.$.G. family. Maliaki and Prince started to have differences after Maliaki broke into his parent's house then began to say things about Prince's girlfriend. He told Prince to leave her because she was coming between the group which Prince said "It Was Untrue". Prince kept it to his self about these issues but soon his mother found out about the breaking into the window incident and told prince's father. They abandonded Maliaki from the house where they recorded tracks which was Prince's room. The two are still friends today. Now going solo but still records tracks with his partner Yungsta (hopefully looking forward to working with Maliaki in the future) , At age 18 Prince is ready to release his solo debut album "Realest Nigga In Da Game" soon to hit the streetz!!!
