cool myspace layoutsJanuary 2002...Three of South Florida's best bands throw in the towel. DROP after 7 years. SHINE after a strong 2 year run....and the same with FLAVORBONE. Phil & Rob see a supergroup in the future...first incorporating Brian on drums from the Wicked Screamin Squirts. Gio showing up for one brief "audition" and then a pow-wow with the boys. Phil & Brian aren't actually eye to eye on things, so Rob insists on a phone call to Todd, knowing he's hangin in L.A. still after a 3 year tour of duty with The Impotent Sea Snakes.
Todd jets "home" and the rehearsals begin, with Gio pumping out several songs in the first couple weeks and the rest of the set within another month.
OMEGA is the name chosen for our "Post-911" band...and much of the music reflected the somber mood of the days.....our dealings with the Politics & Religion, our new outlook on "Freedom"......the tenseness of the war in Iraq, still to come ;(
We certainly know what we're doing, as far as bringing this band out, Phil and Rob consider themselves 2 of the top 3 promo men in the local band biz and with Drop & Shine both doing strictly openings for National acts or the occasional fixed "battle of the bands"....lol.....so they go straight for a national, all high and mighty and knowing they won't disappoint.
Ads start for the band 5 months before the first show...the stickers hitting the streets....* I DID NOT PUT THAT OMEGA STICKER ON THAT FT. LAUDERDALE POLICE CAR !!!....no matter what the witnesses said!!!.....I will however claim the Pepsi Truck....the hundreds of cars at OzzFest 2002....and all those asses at the Buzz Bake Show ;)))...but the buzz is being put in place for an August coming out party......
No National ;(((((((.....but we get on the bill with Trash so it's a bash ;))) cause he's a cool whammerjammer...we get nearly 200 through the door for our first show...Trash packs 'em in too ;)...so we're happy with that but at the same time the 4 of us are spoiled from our previous successes.....
So the next show is a local fest with 28 bands....and we hit the stage primetime...our one bad show ;(((((..very noisy......*how can you not hear the drummer ????? really ???? how can you not hear Todd banging the crap outta the big Tama kit ????? They're loud as fuck !!!!.....sigh.....but it was lackluster entertainment at best....lol
Show number 3.......OMEGA'S.........OMEGA ......We kicked a Nationals dicks in the dirt that night.....yeah...I'm braggin....cause it felt good.....and I know it happened...not only because I felt it....but because as I stood outside during their set...and their 600 fans shuffled out the door....a couple hundred of them.....that I didn't know....either patted me on the back or shook my hand and told me....."YOU GUYS BLEW .............AWAY"......and you know damn well that when your bosses wife asks to give you a BJ in the parking lot....you did an exceptional job ;)))))))))))))
That still feels good....nooooooo...NOT THAT...get your mind back outta the gutter....the show still feels good. It's not the first time I blew a National act away, ...hopefully won't be the last...but the others were taken for granted and this was a still new band.....show number 3 remember.....A Glorious Night ;)))))))

8 months of hard work....* Gio writes incredibly great songs I think....there's nice little twists and turns and bridges everywhere....maybe just one little half step different from this verse to that....little things....that add up to some awesome songwriting.....the songs were a challenge to learn for me...that usually doesn't happen....maybe with cover tunes...but not originals...usually just flow right along....but listen to everything that's going on....and YES...WE KNOW THE TAPE HISS HAS YOU HEADED FOR THE DOOR....but it's the best we could do....wishing to bring these songs to you finally. ;)))
