'Movement’ was born in late 1996 at a time when the sound of Drum & Bass was beginning to polarise and nights were built around one particular "harder" strain of the Drum & Bass genre.
At a launch party for ‘Techsteppin’ at it’s first home (a fortnightly residency in a private members bar, ‘Embargoes’, Kings Road, west London) before moving to a Thursday night residency at Bar Rumba on Shaftesbury Avenue in Londons ‘Theatreland’ it was resolved that in order to fuel the evolution of the music a base was needed to be established for all types of the sound.
Bryan Gee grabbed the name ‘Movement’ from the air (to symbolise the continued movement forward of Drum & Bass) and ‘Movement’ as we now know it had begun –
Movement has remained the number 1 most successful drum & bass clubnight in the world doing tours all over the UK, Europe and Brazil for 13 years! Led by CEO and main man BRYAN G! But its home will always be at the legendary Bar Rumba where it all started, holding a weekly residency there every Thursday for 12 years!
On the 29th Jan 2009, Movement celebrated its final night and birthday at the club, drawing in the likes of Roni Size, Andy C, Die, Ray Keith, Fabio, Ruffstuff, Jordan V, JJ Frost, Dynamite MC, Skibadee, IC3, Darrison, Stamina, Moose and Fun! for one of the most legendary nights in drum & bass history!
