As the term would suggest, the band PLACID is made up of five easygoing guys who are very passionate about their music. Most of the members are straight from Jamaica, but now residing in South West Florida, giving the US a fresh taste of paradise. The guitarist, from Haiti, adds his own authentic island flavor to the groove for an unforgettable multitalented composition of musicians. There is no correct term to describe the members, or the band in a whole, as such talent can not be easily labeled. These ‘new kids on the block’ are anything but, proving themselves to all who experience them. They’ve been quickly taking the community by storm, and branching out internationally, making a scene in the music world that’s sure to be remembered for a while to come.  Placid’s repertoire of music ranges from the sweet, smooth sound of jazz to the funky, cool beat of Motown, including everything in between like Reggae, Kompa, Salsa, and Gospel to name a few. Their versatility and delicacy makes them not only a pleasure to work with, but a meticulous group that artistes can connect with on a higher level musically. The talent in the group speaks wonders, and the music they produce and replicate is enough to blow one away. Aside from recreating the sounds of some of our favorite popular artistes, Placid is currently working diligently on a few projects of their own. They’ve recently started recording original singles both in the United States and Jamaica. The goal at hand is to have an album in the hands of fans sometime in the very near future.  As a new band, Placid has really been marking their territory in the music business. They’ve been invited to perform alongside some of Jamaica’s finest for the 2008 Reggae Awards. Placid has been busy in the US as well. Their debut performance at the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr Commemorative March (Fort Myers, Florida) sparked an interest for the band among the community in January 2008. They’ve since been constantly booked for a wide array of events hosted by Regions Bank, Gulf Coast Town Center, Edison College, as well as providing services for private engagements and events for a wide variety of restaurants, hotels and clubs. SWFL has been blessed with Placid’s music and talent, and the community is embracing them, showing more adoration at each performance. They’re taking entertainment to a whole new level, one show at a time, demonstrating the devotion and motivation of musicians with potential to be known and respected globally.------ and
