About Me

"I don..t know the hell what they..re saying, but somehow I..m behind them a hundred percent” (Geoff Muldaur)
We play our own brand of music between blues, old time country and folk with influences from our regional Bavarian music. Our band emerged out of the well-known Bavarian group Sparifankal which was around since 1972 (first album "Bayernrock" 1976). For more info on them see "The crack in the cosmic egg". The link between Sparifankal and Wuide Wachl is Carl-Ludwig Reichert, Bavarian lyricist extra-ordinaire, who rocked the cradle of Bavarian poetry (under the alias "Benno Hoellteufel").
Wuide Wachl was founded around the millenium by Carl-Ludwig and former Spari companions Ulrich Bassenge and Stefan Liedtke. Later the band was joined by Pit Holzapfel and our youngest addition, fiddler Juliane Gredmaier. Stefan returned to his ethno-linguistical work in 2007, thus leaving Wuide Wachl a quartet. Pit left around Easter 2008. Georg Karger arrive in July to contribute his extraordinairy bass skills.
Our first longplayer "Babbalababb!" was released in 2007. It features our own special blend of BavariCan (note the "c"!) Primitive Music. The lyrics deal with politics, death, love, sex and a lot of nonsense in the vein of the late great humorist Karl Valentin.

Authentic - authentisch

No, we're not authentic. We do not hail from the Mississippi river, we've never been there and we do not intend getting baptized with imported Mississippi water. Pretending to be haunted existentiall...
