Evangeline Records

About Me

Evangeline Records is a San Francisco based independent music label. Our vision is inspired by the models of Stax and Muscle Shoals, with some new twists. We aim to be an artistic collective of sorts where our musicians, producers, and engineers all work together and contribute to each others projects. We are based as an office and also as a recording and mixing facility at Closer Recording [yes, it’s named for the Joy Division album] on Howard Street in San Francisco. Tim Mooney, a former member of Sleepers, Toiling Midgets, and American Music Club, and Sean Coleman, of Sunshine Club, Kelley Stoltz, Paula Frazer, and Jeffrey Luck Lucas, run the recording studio and are a constant source of aural genius and spiritual inspiration to us. One or both of them has made some contribution to all of our releases, both as players and as engineers. The label is owned by John Murry and run as a collaborative effort. Proxy Media in New York does our publicity, Jono Williamson in San Francisco is our Jack of All Trades. We are distributed in the US by Darla, Revolver, Carrot Top, and others, and in the UK and Europe by Decor Records.
