Sounds Like: "School House Rock" was the first music Chris Curry ever remembered hearing. Nothing spoke as loud as the Saturday morning funk that played between cartoons. "That was some hot stuff those cats were doing," said Curry. "Never mind the radio, hook me up with some 'Just a bill on Capitol Hill' jams and I'm all set."Curry carried a torch for the public service announcement rock all through high school but never thought to draw from it musically. Instead he started playing blues from a guitar from a second hand guitar shop and discovered a whole world of emotion through music. From early on he poured his soul into his Stratocaster and used it as an outlet.Curry played blues shows during his high school days but would soon pick up photography and would begin making pictures for newspapers across the country. Time Magazine, Newsweek and The New York Times have used photos made by Curry. He was awarded several national and global photography awards and was part of the investigative team that was named Pulitzer finalists for their coverage on a military contracting firm in 2007.But one day, thanks to the internet Curry saw an old School House Rock cartoon and was reunited with his first love. Suddenly he reached for his Stratocaster and wrote "Desert Pawn", a song that comes complete with a public service announcement. Curry's blues and his original love of Saturday morning cartoon music were united and he spawned more songs which made up his debut solo album, "Jive Candy".While much of Curry's music is politically charged he invites everyone to join in. His heart may be liberal but his message is for everyone irregardless of their political stance. "Luckily I make rock n' roll, not bills into laws, so if anyone has a problem with my message I can tell them to not take the songs so seriously, I'm just a guitar player after all."Curry just finished shooting a music video for "Desert Pawn". Curry partnered up with hip hop director Craig Kimberly and the two spared no expense visiting numerous locations, including filming the band jamming inside a cargo plane as well as storming a North Carolina state park as an infantry unit complete with machine guns. You'll also see one of Curry's friends playing the part of the politician pulling the strings of American service men. They filmed him playing with action figures on his desk and a briefcase full of sand. "That video was such a rush. I hope people have as much fun watching as we did making it"
