In 2004 Marc Flora, aka "Shorty", stepped in as vocalist along with bassist Shawn Woodruff and the band began focusing on writing originals that would lay the foundation for the style of music that Violent By Design continues to write to this day: thrashy, rythmatic, hardcore, mosh-metal that's created with all intentions of hoping that the sound of it will either have you smashing your friends head into a wall or wanting to start your own circle pit.
As the bands catalogue of songs increased it began establishing a solid fanbase and became a well known act in both the Springfield and Columbus districts.
In 2005 Nathan Salyer took an unexspected leave of absense due to having severe knee surgery and was replaced by drummer Shane Cundiff. That same year the band debuted with its first Woodshock show and began recording songs at John Schwab Studios in Columbus, OH.
Two years later in 2006 Nathan Salyer returned to play drums and bassist Zack Ryan would be hired in following more studio recordings and his departure shortly thereafter. The band would also make its second and final Woodshock appearance that year with former bassist shawn Woodruff returning to play bass.
Following a brief hiatus in 2007 due to conflicting interests the band parted ways with bassist Shawn Woodruff and frontman Marc Flora and began writing new material with Zack Ryan, followed by more unforeseen circumstances that would return the band to its previous state of disbandment once again.
In January 2008 the band regrouped for the last time, when after four months of reuniting with former bandmates Zack Ryan called it quits for good and left to pursue his own project, leaving the band in what seems to be its final state of dissolution.
