Playing with my daughters, TV, movies, listening to music, reading. Watching the many sports my husbands insists on watching - football (go Bengals), baseball (go Reds), Ultimate Fighter (Go Rich Franklin, Jorge Gurgel and Marcus Davis), college football (go Bearcats - I know, they're not great, but I work there, give me a break - wait, is my husband looking? O-H-I-O), college basketball (I refuse to root for the Bearcats for firing Huggins (fucking Nancy Zimpher), so I'll root for West Virginia!). Any more sports than that, I cannot take (although I have caught Russ watching championship darts before). I'm able to sit through his drag racing obsession, mainly when I have a good book.
Coldplay, Queen, Lily Allen, Mika, Amy Winehouse, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Led Zeppelin, Keith Urban, DMB of course, The Who, The Cure, The Clash, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Raitt, Fiona Apple, Robin Thicke, John Legend, Bob Marley, The Stones, Kanye, Mellencamp, Waylon, Shooter, Cash, Willie, Blondie, Dashboard Confessional, Etta James, Miles, Heart, Matisyahu, P-funk, The Smiths, She Wants Revenge, Really old school Prince, and really new school Prince (forget any period where he was a symbol), Sublime, Timbaland, Von Bondies, and so many others, I can't even list them all.
Any Kevin Smith movie (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob...even Jersey Girl-hey I think I can see some redeeming qualities).Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Austin Powers trilogy, John Waters movies, Drop Dead Gorgeous (even though I detest Kirsten Dunst), Knocked Up, Grosse Pointe Blank (Any movie with John Cusack and the PIV), Saved, Freeway, There's Something About Mary, Novocaine. Any movie that has a combination of Ben Stiller, the Wilson brothers, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell. Also a big fan (shamefully) of teen movies.I tend to be a trivia nerd, too, so if you can't think of who was in that movie with that one guy, I'm your girl.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pushing Daisies (it's brilliant). Love Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy. Finally got Russ to watch the best show on television in my opinion - How I Met Your Mother. It's legen....wait for it.....dary. Seinfeld, Sex & the City, Chapelle's Show, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Gossip Girl, Samantha Who, Reno 911, All those horrible Vh1 shows (Rock of Love, Scott Baio is whatever he is right now, Celebrity Rehab, I Love New York, etc), South Park, Top Chef, Project Runway, Real World, Big Brother, Survivor (can you tell I'm a fan of reality TV?). I want to see a bunch of other shows on DVD that I missed the first few episodes: Scrubs, Lost, Alias, Monk.
I read all the time. Favorite authors are Patricia Cornwell and Janet Evanovich. Really like MaryJanice Davidson, too. I have to be reading constantly, so I always go to the library and just pick out books that look interesting, despite their genre or their author. Of course I've also read all of the Harry Potters. I think I'm getting out of my classic book phase right now, but I've read most of them.
My Uncle Gary was amazingly funny and fought in Vietnam and was the chief of police in Aurora for years. If I got a fraction of his wit, I'm proud of it. I loved my Gran so much (she used to say we were two peas in a pod and the only optimists in the whole family). I admire her for raising my uncle who had Down's Syndrome (despite him repeatedly locking her in the bathroom). I guess I just admire people who follow their heart and do what they think is right, and I try to do the same.Oh, and people who are not completely and utterly fake (I hate hypocrites and try to keep myself away from them or they'll bring me down).Sometimes, I'm proud of myself, too - like when I won't let people ignore my children or I won't let people speak to me with a bitchy tone. Or when my kids are perfectly behaved in a sea of brats.
