Miami’s officially on the map when it comes to hip hop. Superstars are being born in the magic city: Flo-Rida, Rick Ross, Slo V & Retro. Yes, Slo V & Retro are making big noise in the nations southern most hot spot that cannot be ignored. In the last year they’ve progressed from local rappers to local celebrities on the independent music scene in Miami and now Slo V & Retro are looking to get their break and feel stardom past the city limits. When asked about their attitude and mind state at this point Slo V said “It’s 2009 and we’ve been doing this for a while, keep us out as long as you can because once the game is ours you’re not getting it back.” .

As independent artists they managed to land local celebrity Ballgreezy as a feature on their hit “My Vibe”. Locally the record has done very well amongst tastemakers and fans. It has garnered air time on 103.5 The Beat and prime time mix shows but the artists are not content. The ultimate form of promotion for music is undisputedly radio and getting consistent spins on any radio station is all but easy however nothing can hold these two down. “We’re making moves, we’re going to take over Miami if it kills us” said Retro about future plans. In the near future Slo V & Retro are planning the release of a new mix tape sure to blow fans away, a follow up to last year’s very popular get sexy contest and a slew of you tube videos to keep fans in touch all tied together with internet social networking. ”

The mix tape is their story, they’ve made mistakes, been shut down, and hated on just like many newcomers to the game. However they have been separated by one small detail: they can actually rap. “They have talent, I believe in them and they are the reason I’m in the industry” said their manager. They have a true to life “Underdog” story, people like to root for the underdog and that’s the simple science behind the mix tape’s name. Their goal is to make people feel what their music is about, not just to get them to listen. To Slo V & Retro it’s about entertaining and giving people the whole package. The mix tape will be hosted by a local celebrity DJ who has not yet been identified. rdquo;

The “Get Sexier Contest” is the follow up to last year’s Get Sexy Contest. Last year ladies from all over the nation modeled Slo V & Retro T Shirts all competing for a three hundred dollar cash prize. In the new contest the attire will be thongs and booty shorts graced with the Slo V & Retro logo. This year’s winner will receive a Victoria’s Secret gift card.

You tube is the duo’s newest ground to conquer and their online audience is growing quickly. Slo V & Retro have been hosting and documenting different important local events for the likes of DJ Epps(G-Unit/Shadyville/Nightbreederz) DJ Nasty(Core DJ’s/Dunk Ryders) and the videos are opening doors for the rappers in unimaginable ways.

The two are keeping busy and making big moves. Keep an eye out for them all over Miami and on the web. Also keep an ear out for their follow up to “My Vibe”, the street single “Greeze”.
