Overseen by a 23-member Board of Directors, the Alumni Association of the twenty-first century continues to serve the university's 180,000+ network of graduates. Graduates are kept informed via an electronic newsletter, an annual report, and the quarterly Washington Square. The Association annually hosts a variety of social and recreational events, including Homecoming Weekend, the Golden Grad Reunion, and many other regional programming events. The Association offers members an assortment of benefits that range from medical insurance to life insurance to merchandise and travel discounts to free access to the SJSU Career Center (a $25 value).
In partnership with the Student Life Center, the Alumni Association makes contact with new students—our future alumni—as soon as they arrive on campus to acquaint them with the Association's goals and services. During new student orientation, board members meet with students to discuss the significance of the San José State experience in their own professional and personal lives. And to boost San José State name recognition across the country, the Alumni Association distributes approximately 5,000 complimentary SJSU license plate frames at commencement each year...
