Dear friends,
The idea if this album was birthed many years ago with friends and family across the country wanting our music recorded. Destiny changed the plan. Sam Kinison (my brother-in-law) had planned to produce my album since he was my biggest fan and music was his greatest love. Since we were both PK's (preacher kids) gospel music became our love at a very young age.
My folks didn't realize the blessing they gave me when the only sounds of music in our home was Mahalia Jackson. All of the songsI chose for this album came from a special place in my heart. I have a couple of songs that are original and I hope you appreciate and enjoy them as much as I do.
Sam left me with a special gift. He wrote a song for me many years ago and now, with him gone, it has extra special meaning for me. For years it was hard to listen to it without heartache and tears, but for all of his friends and fans...and all of you that have asked me to record, I want to share this song with you. This song is called "Long Ago".
I have had the song "Say Something Good About America" for years, but after all that has happened in our country I thought it was very appropriate to pull it out now and share it with you.
