So as you may or may not have heard already, this march ('08) my friends and I will be planning a benefit show to raise money, and awareness, about a disease known as cystic fibrosis. It is something that directly affects our group of friends, so we decided to put our heads together and do something to help. We're going to have 6- 10 big name bands, various retail stores and boardshops donating clothes, big name guitar and drum companies helping to get the word out, and other items for raffle and food for sale with all the proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Admission will be around $10.00 and again, the proceeds will all be going to CFF. If there is ANYTHING you can do, any connections where you work, any bands you know ( that can bring a big crowd. this needs to be legit), or any ideas at all that you have please feel free to write me. What Is Cystic Fibrosis? Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond...
