Melisa Angelina was born on November 30 and grew up in a small rural town called New Alexandria, about an hour east from Pittsburgh. She is well known for her optimism, social appeal and passion to succeed. Having the enhanced ability to perform and dance. She shatters stereotypes among this “image” driven industry, with her God given abilities to also write, produce, and create original music. Growing up Melisa expressed her talents through various roles in plays and vocal shows held in school and church. I asked her what she remembers most as a child, quoted saying "What I remember most from my childhood is my sisters and I planning for another one of our Christmas shows that we performed annually for my father, mother and close relatives. We choreographed the dance routines and even created our own costumes. Then we would sing and perform different songs each year in accordance with the meaning from which that years memories brought to us.” I then asked her what her fondest memory was when performing at such a young age? “My fondest memory was singing a song called ‘Daddy’s Hands’, for my father, I remember seeing him tear up, it felt so good to see my father moved, it was touching.” She went on later to tell me about how all of this has driven her to who she is today. “You see I really get into my work, I focus in on the emotion because that’s how I am. When I am performing I get into the moment and let it take me to where it’s naturally going, whether it be high-energy fun or heartfelt compassion that makes you want to cry. Whatever it may be I want everyone to feel what I am feeling, so I paint a picture with my voice and expression, that’s my job.” Another subject that Melisa would speak about was the time spent during development. “There were times where we spent 10 hour days in the studio and then I’d just go home and continue working on a song because more creative images and ideas would come to me, it was like God always had something more to say, although it never felt like work for me because when you find something you love to do, it’s not work”. “I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to have been surrounded by people with such great talent that believe in me and to have given my ideas and thoughts a chance. I live for making music and performing, it just feels incredible!” Everyday Melisa encourages people to not give up and to feel good about who they are. She leads by example to live everyday to its fullest.
