MY STORY :
I was born in Berlin. My interst in filmmaking and photography started pretty early at the age of 6 when I sneaked into a movie theatre.
After seeing my first movie, a James Bond flic. I knew I wanted to become part of the movie world, become a filmmaker and an actor.
At the age of 11 I got my first camera and since that time I havent..t stopped taking pictures and filming. The toys just got bigger and more complex .
Explorers, Adventures and Expeditions ha a big influence on me . I remember in first grade when I saw a picture of an expedition to reach Everest, I made the descision to try to travel and explore the entire planet, reach the highest mountains, dive to the deepest possible point on the planet and space travel.
At the age of 16 I had my first photography exhibition and I volunteered at a local film school on a student movie. After my first intensive on set experience, I knew I was on the right path …
After I finshed my highschool I joined the army. I was accepted for a reserve officer career in the special forces. I left the service iafter reaching the rank of a comanding officer, to continue with my goal to become a filmmaker and adventurer.
Focusing on my career in the entertainment industry I was hired by a Musical Theatre Company as a Lighting and Stage technician for a European Tour. Over the next 6 months , touring through entire Europe and even performing with the musical in the warzone of the Bosnia - Herzigovina konflikt, I learned everything about lighting for rock and roll stages and touring musicals. When the tour was over, I moved to the United Staates.
Starting in New York as a still photographer, I traveled from New York to Miami. During the major road trip I took lots of photograhy footage on 35 mm b/w and color film. I printed my best pictures, framed them and put them on display.
I started out with 3 framed pieces exhibiting them on the road at art shows and I ended up with over 50 large format pieces in Miami, which I supplied to local art galleries.
Gaining recognition in Miami as a photographer, I was able to sell entire custom made photography series to interior designers, who designed buildings, restaurants and hotels with my work.
Living and working in Miami. I also got involved in the model and fashion industry as a production assistant and as an assistant photographer for several photo productions and photographers.
Moving from still photography to motion picture photography I attended film classes at a local filmschool in Miami. Later I also attended courses at several other filmschools in Europe.
During my time in Miami I also started to make my first short films and videos.
Trying to learn more about professional film equipment, I asked for a job at a cine equipment rental house.
The owner took me under his wings and introduced me to his son, who was a professional cinematographer, the son accepted me as his assistant.
Working in the rental house in all departments: grip, lighting, studio and camera and assisting as a camera assistant on different projects, I was able to gain all the knowledge I needed to know to continue with my goal to become a filmmaker.
After working several years worldwide with different cameramen and crews on features, commercials and documentary films I became a professional Assistant Cameraman.
In 1998 I was hired for my first Expedition Assignment. The project was shot on 35 mm film using the ARRI 435 camera.
Location was Island, for 8 weeks we were operating out of tents with two offroad vehicles an an ultralight plane for aerial shoots. Our gear also included a full size lightweight cameracrane, a steadicam and a dolly for tracking shoots.
The footage was sold and distributed worldwide. The movie was also featured at the museum of nature, science and technology in munich, the biggest science and technology museum in the world. The film screened for serveral months as a 180 degree dome projection in the planetarium.
Different Expedition asssignments on 16 / 35 mm film, going into Capo Verde / Westafrica for over 6 months, extensive Mountain Work at the highest summits in Europe and contracts on ships and expedition vessels followed.
I love working together with professional teams, crews and actors on film projects, campains and events.
I really enjoy beeing part of adventures which push the human limits to show what we can achiev and how amazing our world and life is.
I.m currently producing ARCHANGELS and working on my Acting and BASE Jumping career.
