Conquering stage, and screen, and being hailed as a child prodigy.... the best has really yet to come for Trevor Watson.Born Darnell Haynes in Brooklyn, NY, Trevor discovered song and dance at a very young age. By watching Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Elenor Powell, Rudolph Nureyev, and Michael Jackson, Trevor was in awe of their talent. Inspired by their moves the instant he saw them, he would imitate his idols as much as possible, especially Michael Jacskon who became a big influence on him. He started attending dance classes at age 6 at and was instantly being touted by managers and agents for them to represent him. He 1st featured in Attitude magazine in 1995 and then started taking classes with and sharing the stages with such dance legends as Peg Leg Bates, Sandman Sims, Jimmy Slyde, and Debbie Allen. Trevor also ventured into choreograhy. At age 10, he became the youngest choreographer in history to win the New York Tap Dance Associations award for Choreographer of the year, and began choreographing for up and coming artists like Lafonda and many others. Trevor then began dancing in compotitions like Talent America and would win best dancer 3 years in a row at Talent America ('99-'01), a record still unbeat and would eventually win over 40 awards in compotitions. There he was approched by Tobe Gibson, the woman who discovered Tom Cruise and many other Hollywood A-listers, and signed to her management team Young Talent. A veteran of stages like Lincoln Center, Carnigie Hall and Town Hall by this time, he also began performing on off broadway plays like, Appellomondo's Dream (2000), Crispis Aticks (2002) playing a young Crispis Aticks, "Prodigy- The Story of Sammy Davis Jr.(2001)" playing a young Sammy Davis Jr., and "Come and get your Happiness: Trbute to Shirley Temple (1998)" playing a young Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, in which Trevor was praised by Shirley herself a year later when performing for her in a tribute dance at the 1999 Kennedy Center Honors, and reprising his role as Sammy Davis Jr. in "Prodigy - Sammy Davis Jr. Story" in 2005. Trevor also began being taught and started sharing the stage with his idols like the late Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, The Nicholas Bros, and was ask to perform for the family of Sammy Davis Jr. at 11 years old. Then he began a 10 month broadway tour playing Simba in The Lion king. His dancing caught the attention of some of music biggest artists and was then being asked to dance in music videos by acts such as Missy Elliot and Gnarles Barkley. Trevor then focused his attention on other endevers like becoming a published poet in 2007, and further pursuing his music career. Beginning at age 11 Trevor started taking voice lessons from the late Ruth Brown and never left his music ambitions. After garnering a slot as an opening act for Juvinile in 2005 performing all over North America, Trevor took some time off due to an injury and to finish school but was still writing and recording songs that would make up his debute mixtape entitled "The Voice of Trevor Watson" being released in early 2009 and is the prequel to his long awaited debut album, "Trevor Watson" coming out in 2009. Learning 6 instruments, Trevor wanted to further his music capability. Trevor also focused more attention on his choreography and started choreographing for artists such as r&b singer Lafonda who performed on 106 & park in 2007 and The Glamazon Girls who in 2007 finished in the top 8 in NBCs Americas Got Talent. He even started venturing off into movies.
