as a songwriter, i never really stop writing. i'm always storing my ideas somewhere in my head or on scratch paper in a trunk for that perfect moment where thought and touch all come together in song at the piano. and people and experiences move me to that point all the time. in the past, i have just accepted that some songs are written just for me... you know, kinda like therapy, something i get out of my system and then put to bed. so in reality, you guys only hear about a tenth of what is written.... you know, whatever songs make a record. but i realize it doesn't have to be like that-- you guys have the same thoughts that i do, go through the same struggles that i do... what if one of the songs you never heard is the very one that you would feel was written for you to hear? "the grand garden ep" is a compilation of songs that i've written between "lemon love" and the upcoming "wherever the dandelion falls." it's only the beginning- i hope to give you more and more as time goes on as there were 75+ songs we were choosing from for the record this time around! there are songs about love, loneliness, confusion, inspiration, rejection, addiction... all the things that have encompassed my life or the life of someone close to me in the past year. i hope to give you guys stories behind many of these songs at some point. for now, i have posted the lyrics for you to catch an initial glimpse into the storyline... and then it's my hope that the music makes the colors come clear. love & miss you guys. luv---aslyn
