About Me

now back to new york, after having been in seattle 'round 7 perhaps 8 years. in and out. before this i'd been living in denmark, for a while in germany, france, china, w. africa, up and down the u.s. coasts and here and there. went out there (northwest) because of the capoeira angola. to train, to be involved with the transition of diasporatic african culture. transcription? transmutation? it's about maintaining the traditional aspect while recognizing irresistable evolution. that's what i've been doing. not changing personal aspects but trying to realize the core of things, the essence, for better or worse. been working as an educator for the past 7 and more years, high school, elementary, outdoor education, social justice/urban issues. somehow trying to capture and release youths outside of societal yeses and nos. and this work whether here in the states, in brazil, in africa, it seems in common. and simultaneously seems about reconciliation. in my time as vocalist for "quasi nada" i've been working at reconciliations, creating juxtapositions of popular culture with turning ideas, reintroducing poetry. oh, and i like blue.
