About Me
Since their inception in early 2006, the Amend has been on a non-stop mission to bring their unique brand of rock to as many people as possible through explosively high-energy live shows. As a 5-piece band, each member brings to the table a variety of influences from the obscure to the mainstream, the culmination of which gives the Amend their distinct but unified sound.
The Amend is comprised of five friends, united by their love for music and their obsession for creating and performing it. For over a year and a half, bassist Bryan Abercrombie, guitarists Seth Rowlette and Ryan Hughes, drummer Matt Sharon and frontman Brian Thomas have worked to develop a style of music that represents not only the individual members themselves, but also the band as a whole. This expression was realized in the Amend’s debut album, “A Deafening Silenceâ€.
“A Deafening Silence†was recorded in October of ’06 when the Amend traveled to Chapel Hill, NC to work with Al Jacob and Mitch Marlow (former guitarist for Classic Case and touring guitarist for He Is Legend) of Warrior Sound Studios. The Amend recorded the entire album in 10 days! It was no easy process, but the end result speaks for itself.
“A Deafening Silence†gives the listener much more than the one dimensional sound on which many of today’s rock bands thrive. From the driving beats and hardcore edge of the song “Last Act of Farewell†to the almost pop-rock flavor of “Something I Will Never Do Againâ€, to the eerie vocals and ethereal guitars on the reworked acoustic version of “Desperate to Everythingâ€, this album really pushes the envelope past typical. Add to this thoughtful, intelligent lyrics, catchy choruses and infectious melodies and the Amend’s “A Deafening Silence†truly has the ability to satisfy a multitude of musical palettes.
Since the official release of “A Deafening Silence†in April of 2007, the Amend has been pushing harder and harder to play as many places as possible throughout the south east, perfecting their live show and supporting their debut album. In December of ’07, the guys traveled south to Orlando, Fl to work with producer Brett Hestla (Dark New Day). While there the band started work on their next album "The Let Down" and released a 4 song demo to build anticipation for the 08 release, working closely with Brett Hestla to ensure that the production and song writing is of the highest quality.
As the Amend continues to grow and progress they will continue to play intense live shows whenever and wherever possible, so be sure you are there when they come to a town near you…You won’t be sorry!
