Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra

About Me

The Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra was formed in January 2000 by drummer/composer/arranger Lars Halle. The band focuses on original music, most of it penned by Lars, but also pays tribute to many of big band history's major figures. The LHJO plays regularly at Chris' Jazz Café in Philadelphia, and has made appearances at the West Chester University Jazz Festival, the Main Line Food & Jazz Fest, Irish Festival in North Wildwood, NJ, as well as having performed with Jill Scott on NBC's 2004 show "Eagles: Unfinished Business." The LHJO has featured soloists such as trumpeter John Swana and saxophonist Tim Warfield. Lars is a published composer, having issued several best-selling compositions through Kendor Music, Inc. The band consists of many of Philadelphia's hottest young jazz musicians, and is widely considered to be the number one big band in Philadelphia.Read Jack Bowers' review of the CD Speaking of Apropos here
