About Me

born in 1969, I have been playing the guitar as long as I can remember. In my teens I played with various rockbands around Berlin (the city wasn't very big at the time). From '90 to '94 I studied at the Hochschule der Künste (College of Arts) in Berlin. My teachers were David Friedman, Sigi Busch, Michael Gechter and Jerry Granelli. Went to New York in 1994 to 95 for further studies and playing. Lessons with John Abercrombie, Wayne Krantz, Mike Stern, Richard Boukas and others.
In 1999 a scholarship from the Berlin senate allowed me to attend the International Jazz Workshop in Banff, Canada (Teachers: Kenny Werner, Dave Holland, Dave Douglas among others). Some of my band projects (recent and past): the Kai Brückner Trio with Aaron Alexander and J. Anthony Granelli, Jerry Granelli's UFB, Jacobien Vlasman Quartett, Thärichens Tentett, Lone World Trio, Yakou Tribe, Jocelyn B. Smith, Lisa Bassenge, The W.H Auden Project (Andreas Schnermann and Inga Lühning), MicroBazaar, Zülfü Livanelli, Tanmoy Bose, Merkur.
I did some tours in the U.S. with Jerry Granelli, in India with tabla player Tanmoy Bose and a tour to various African countries with Yakou Tribe through the Goethe Institut. I composed some music for films and sometimes I play with my dad Christian who reads stories or poetry.
