About Me
Originally from the interior of British Columbia, Brandy Moore gave her first live public performance at the age of 10 in a small community talent show near Penticton, BC. Living alternately between northern Alberta, the Okanagan Valley and the west coast of British Columbia, Brandy performed regularly throughout her school-aged years at various assemblies & functions including special songs for her grade nine (Peter Pond Junior High, Fort McMurray, AB) and grade twelve graduation ceremonies (Garibaldi Secondary, Maple Ridge, BC). At 19, she enrolled in the music program at Capilano College in North Vancouver, B.C. and began performing regularly around the west coast on weekends. For the next several years, she performed lead vocals for various R&B projects while also performing regularly as an acoustic solo act. Her first independent acoustic CD was recorded & released in 1999 and she was soon selling dozens of copies at every performance. The music opportunities kept increasing and by the summer of 2000 she was able to give up her office job to focus on her music full-time. In the spring of 2001, Brandy moved for the first time to Regina, Saskatchewan. Since arriving in the prairies she's enjoyed many successes, including the release of two more independent CDs (over 2,000 CD copies sold within the first two years of her arrival in the Queen City), national CBC radio airplay and multiple bookings in a wide variety of venues, festivals and events throughout the province including the Casino Regina Show Lounge (opening for Juno award winner Sue Medley), the Casino Regina CPR lounge, the Flatlands Festival, the Regina Folk Festival, the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, A Taste of Saskatchewan, Pile O' Bones, the Mid-Winter Blues Festival & several independently promoted sold-out solo acoustic shows. In addition, one of her original songs "Without You" was chosen to be on Regina's Flatlands Festival compilation CD for 2002. In January of 2005, Brandy was invited to perform the Canadian National Anthem for the Embassy of Canada's inauguration ceremony in El Salvador, Central America. She loved the experience and spent the next four months traveling throughout the country performing in numerous small town fiestas as well as the beautiful Teatro de Santa Ana (Theatre of Saint Anna) where Leona Boyd regularly appears. During this visit she was also delighted and privileged to lead a singing/guitar workshop to Spanish speaking students in Santa Ana's cultural house. When it came time to return to Canada, instead of going back to Regina immediately, Brandy flew to Montreal to explore the city & it's music scene. She arrived just in time to experience the 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival and was thrilled to catch The Neville Brothers, Patty LaBelle, Deborah Cox, Jully Black, Sylvie Desgrosseillers, Jack Soul, Kim Richardson, Carla Thomas, Al Jareau and Roberta Flack all performing live! What an incredibly amazing and inspirational start to her first experience of Montreal! Brandy spent the next several months exploring Montreal and other parts of Quebec before finally returning home to the prairies in late November of '05 to work on writing songs for her next independent CD. Since coming back, Brandy has laid down some roots by purchasing her first home. Having a house has given her the space and the quiet she's needed to focus on writing songs and developing new styles of guitar playing. Brandy's 4th independent acoustic CD was released at The Royal Sask Museum Auditorium in Regina on July 3, 2008. Brandy performed the first set of the evening as a solo act featuring all 10 songs off of her brand new CD. During intermission she sold 84 CDs to a crowd of just over 100 people! Then, as a special treat to her fans, Brandy invited The Project (a Regina-based group) to join her on the 2nd set to help her perform some of her favorite jazz, soul, motown, R&B, funk & blues numbers for the crowd. Everyone had a blast! Brandy was excited to be able to perform so many different genres in one night - and dozens of positive emails from her music supporters have been flowing in since the show. She even did a couple of costume changes! More recently, Brandy performed with The Project in Regina's 15th annual Mid-Winter Blues Festival and they have more live shows coming up (see music listings on this page). Brandy will also be performing as a solo act at various locations around Saskatchewan this spring & summer. Please visit www.brandymoore.ca for more info.
