About Me

“Billy Coma-Still Kickin Out the Jams”

St. Louis, Mo. –The gritty, street rock band, “Billy Coma” has been around for a long time…..since the 1970's, That is a long time for a punk band, but it's about the music right? Billy Coma, first known as “Tiffany Queen”, had their first gig at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, Mo. in 1973. Powered by 300 Watt Ampeg SVT amps, those that could not hear, could feel. (Sounds a bit like the WHO's Tommy?) Thirty years later, Billy's music still has that aneurystic, throbbing garage/punk feel.

The band did some touring back in the 70's, opening for some national acts at Midwest and East Coast music festivals. They never really broke out into the major music scene. The lyrics and music were way ahead of the time, with violent, sexual, lusty, leather clad lyrics. Back in the 70's, more than one bar owner pulled the plug for fear of loud, lewd and lascivious charges.

The members of Billy Coma are: Doc, (singer/guitar)-a mix of Lou Reed and Carl from Slingblade; Longhead (drums), 6'9”, pierced, tattooed, leathered, chained and dangerous, Jamey (singer/lead guitar) formerly of the fabulous TripDaddys, and Loren (a thumpin bass), formerly of The Electric.

Billy spoke about their most recent incarnation of the band, “With the original band, “Tiffany Queen” and the 80's version “Surgery”, our shows used to be about volume and shock value. There is nothing left to shock anymore. Hell, you can go on the internet and watch an autopsy. But we are still about volume, solid lyrical content and blue vein rock and roll.
