BIOGRAPHY OF ( YOLI )Born Yolanda Rodrigo in the beautiful city of Newport Rhode Island, she was the second born of four girls. Raised around a music loving family, who love to sing and dance. Although most could sing fairly well, Yolanda and her sister Melinda were blessed with soulful voices that would out shine the rest. Singing around the house Yolanda and Melinda with no vocal training would write songs and perform them for the family. Unusually confident at an early age the two of them would stand in the hall of there development where they lived while their uncle and now manager, Jose Rivera Neilson video taped them singing and fighting over who missed a line or note. As they continued to sing they met a beautiful voiced gospel singer named Maria Sanders AKA Kenyatta. They formed an all girl group called INDEPTH (In Deep Thought).(INDEPTH) performed throughout Rhode Island at places such as: • Club Rits, Providence RI. • The Spirit of Newport A large yacht that hosted tours Newport RI. • The Elks Lodge, Newport RI. • Club Jakes Fall River Massachusetts. • Club Lupo’s Providence RI.Yolanda and Kenyatta tried out for amateur night at the (Apollo Bound Theater) in New York City. With Great success they earn a second place prize which in our view was a first place prize!At age 21 Yolanda decided to go solo. She recorded songs under the stage name (Yoli) a name derived from her Latin roots. Yoli still worked with Kenyatta on many occasions writing songs together and doing each others back up’s. Yoli then decided that her music was in fact unique and her fan’s told her that she was gifted in her song writing and her vocal talent. As she entered many arenas to perform. Yoli decided U-Nique is it! ther stage name would remain through her life of music. Yoli has since performed at many venues such as:• Club Octain in Warwick RI. / The Living Room Providence RI. • Club Jewel in Providence RI. / Black Rep Providence RI. • Club Passions in Providence RI. / Stand Providence RI. • Club Platforms in Providence RI. / Newport Art Museum • Club K’C Tap in Pawtucket RI. / Weddings / House Party’sMoving to Norfolk, Virginia to be closer to her manager and uncle. Yolanda packed up and said good bye to the Ocean State. Ready to make waves in Virginia Yoli has already performed at venues such as:• Blakely’s Chesapeake VA. • The Rainbow Cactus (alternative lifestyle club) she believes in equality to all • The Ambush (alternative lifestyle club) drop in performance • Luna Maya ( A nationally know Mexican theme restaurant ) * Club MixersAnd if your Ready Virginia, to embrace the soulful sounds of Yoli.
