The average mean temperature in the Idaho Snake River Valley in the middle of January is 19°F with lows falling well below -20°F. It was in this frigid environment that the band known as Fortunate Son was formed. In January of 2005 after collaborating on various projects Ben Parker, Payte Cagle, Steve Serra, Spencer Vehar and Zac Cutler came together to create a sound based upon each individual’s unique musical background and experience. After spending four months writing new material the band started performing at diverse shows and venues. Over the next two years Fortunate Son has performed with a number of talented bands. Brandon Doggett joined the band while preparing for a show at a Harley Davidson Convention and he’s been with the band ever since. Fortunate Son started recording its first full-length CD in November of 2005; completing the compilation of all original songs in late 2006. During the recording process the band continued to play live shows throughout the area. In 2007 Fortunate Son will continue to write music and play live shows throughout the Western United States.
